My favourite Author : Michael Madhusudan Dutt
Michael Madhusudan Dutt, born on January 25, 1824, in Sagordari, Bengal, was a trailblazing Bengali poet and playwright of the 19th century. Raised in a Brahmo Samaj family, Dutt's early education in English literature greatly influenced his later literary pursuits. His groundbreaking work, "Meghnad Badh Kavya," marked a departure from traditional Bengali poetry, incorporating blank verse and a narrative style influenced by Western literature. Dutt's parents, Rajnarayan Dutt and Jhilmil Devi, supported his education, which eventually led him to pursue law at the University of Calcutta. However, his true passion lay in literature, and he later moved to England to further his studies. Dutt's poetic contributions, marked by a fusion of Western and Indian literary elements, earned him a unique place in the history of Bengali literature. His life and work exemplify a bridge between East and West, showcasing the richness of cultural exchange in the realm of literature.
